I am happy to announce the details for the March 2009 meeting;

I have secured a venue for the March meeting which will be at the Courtyard Marriot at the waterfront. I am waiting to hear back from a potential speaker before posting the date but it should be the third week of March. If you would like to make any final suggestions for topics of discussion please feel free to place them in a comment below this post. Social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIN are really taking of this year. I found myself on so many different types of social media sites that I had no way of keeping up with all of it until I came across a little site called FriendFeed which combines all your social media accounts into one feed. With technology like this coming into play Search is getting less of my time. Sure search has it’s purposes but when I want read about things that impact me the most I go to my feeds whether it’s Twitter, Digg, Google Reader,

I took the time to put together a complete list of Free SEO tools on the SEO Group Wiki. These are tools that many SEO consultants, including myself, use on a day-to-day basis including tools for; website review, competitive analysis, industry analysis, keyword research, technical review, link building, website tracking/monitoring and even firefox extensions.

Using these tools can help you get a better understanding of search engine optimization practices and point out any weaknesses your site may have.  A great way to keep up with new tools and seo news is to read sites like sphinn.

This is a collection of websites, that offer free backlinks, any commercial website should be listed on. When choosing these websites they had to meet three criteria; high page rank, authority and trustability.

Over the weekend I applied a new design theme to the Pittsburgh SEO Group website. This theme allows for me to have the next meeting featured at the top without creating duplicate content. I also like how this theme is cleaner and simpler than before. You also probably noticed that added a few sponsor banners, one at the top and two on the side. These are relative to the group and will help with maintaining and promoting the website.

I recently redesigned my personal website and included a page with free SEO tools. These are tools that I use on a regular basis to help me optimize, track and review my SEO progress. Please check out the list and if you know of any SEO tools tools that you feel deserve to be on the list please let me know.

Search Engine Optimization is the process of optimizing your website to get more traffic from search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. Once you have that visitor to your website what is your next goal? For many websites the next goal would be to turn that visitor into a lead.
